Job Summary
Diesel Mechanic Lead responsibilities include inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of street-sweeping fleet with hands-on work on hydraulic, electrical, and air systems to ensure safe, reliable operation. Perform safety-inspection routines (lockout/tagout), execute preventive maintenance per blueprints and torque specs, operate diagnostic tools, and communicate maintenance needs and status with operators and supervisors. Maintain documentation, adhere to safety and regulatory requirements, and respond to unexpected equipment issues with collaborative problem-solving. Lead a maintenance team, ensure regular attendance, and uphold company safety culture while supporting community-focused environmental services. Requires strong mechanical/technical expertise, proficiency with shop tools and precision measurement, and ability to work outdoors in variable conditions. Required Qualifications
- Education: High School or GED
- Experience: 6+ years hands-on shop experience with hydraulic, electrical, and air systems (heavy equipment, waste, & recycling preferred)
- 3+ years management experience
- License: Driver’s License with CDL B - Preferred
- Tools: Must provide and maintain basic hand and diagnostic tools
- Age: at least 21
- Compliance: must pass MVR, background check, DOT physical, drug screening
