Job Summary
Day Custodian position responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, guest-facing environment during operating hours (6:30am–2:30pm). Duties include cleaning lobbies, restrooms, and high-traffic areas; promptly responding to spills; emptying trash and restocking supplies; performing routine floor care (sweeping/mopping); cleaning glass and stainless surfaces; assisting with daytime event setup/breakdown; reporting maintenance issues; maintaining cleaning supplies/equipment; and following daily checklists. Requires ability to work independently or with a team in a fast-paced setting, strong customer service and communication skills, knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures, familiarity with custodial tools, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays as part of a regular schedule. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending and standing for extended periods. Preferred: experience in museum, hospitality, or similar public setting; familiarity with basic custodial equipment. Compensation is hourly with Full-time Regular status and benefits described in the posting.
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of custodial or janitorial experience in a guest-facing environment
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as part of a regular schedule
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
