Job Summary
Day Camp Director position at the YMCA overseeing Before & After School Programs, Adventure Days, Break Camps, and Summer Day Camp with leadership and supervision of staff; responsibilities include curriculum implementation, safety, budgeting, staff development, parent communications, and ensuring compliance with licensing and YMCA standards across multiple locations in the Colorado Springs region.
Required Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- Verifiable education or training in work with school-age children (e.g., recreation, education, scouting or 4-H)
- A four (4) year college degree with a major such as recreation, outdoor education, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a related human services field; OR
- Two years of college training and six (6) months (910 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time experience in care and supervision of four or more children; OR
- Three year (5640 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time experience and one of the following qualifications: complete six semester hours or nine quarter hours in course work from a regionally accredited college or university; OR 40 clock hours of training in course work applicable to school-age children and related safety courses within the first nine months of employment.
- Additional teaching and/or educational license/certificate is a big advantage
- In-depth knowledge of child development

- Great amount of patience and flexibility
- Experience in the supervision of other employees
- Verifiable and satisfactory experience includes supervision of four or more children aged four to eighteen years old, unrelated to the individual, since age 18
- Babysitting and Nannying are not accepted
- Complete Redwoods certifications (Hazardous Communications, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, Behavior Management 101)
- Maintain CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer every 2 years; First Aid training every 2 years
- Maintain required licensing forms and background checks
