Job Summary
Summer Day Camp Counselor at multiple YMCA locations in Colorado Springs. Provide safe, nurturing supervision of children, lead age-appropriate activities, and support campers’ development while maintaining licensing standards and effective communication with parents. Roles include supervising groups, implementing the camp schedule, coordinating with staff, and ensuring a positive camp experience from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm with an 8.5 hour shift and 30-minute unpaid break. Must adhere to safety policies, complete required training, and support a collaborative camp environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum age of 18
- Minimum of six months of full time or equivalent part time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children leading group activities at a minimum of 460 hours.
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen, First Aid certified (training available upon hiring)
- CERTIFICATIONS: Hazardous Communications, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, Behavior Management 101, licensing requirements, CPR/AED maintenance
- Maintain CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer every 2 years; skills every year
- Maintain First Aid and Administering Emergency Oxygen every 2 years
