Job Summary
Lead the migration from SQL Server to Databricks and administer workspaces across development, test, and production environments. Configure clusters, instance pools, SQL Warehouses, and job scheduling while optimizing for cost, performance, and reliability. Implement Lakehouse architecture, Medallion data patterns, and RBAC controls including Unity Catalog and workspace permissions. Collaborate with Azure platform teams to manage networking, authentication, and secure connectivity. Establish operational processes for provisioning, monitoring, and incident management, providing on-call support during off-hours. Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and manage release processes.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience administering enterprise data platforms
- 3+ years of hands-on Databricks administration experience
- Strong experience with Azure Databricks
- Strong experience with Unity Catalog
- Strong experience with Delta Lake
- Strong experience with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
- Strong experience with Azure Active Directory (Entra ID)
- Strong experience with Azure Networking
- Experience implementing RBAC
- Experience implementing security policies
- Experience implementing governance controls
- Strong knowledge of monitoring
- Strong knowledge of logging
- Strong knowledge of troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge of performance tuning
- Experience managing production environments
- Experience managing platform support operations
- Proficiency in Python
- Proficiency in SQL
- Proficiency in scripting languages
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure
- Experience with provisioning of SQL Server Databases
- Understanding of HIPAA
- Understanding of SOC 2
- Understanding of other compliance frameworks relevant to healthcare data
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Equivalent experience to Bachelor's degree
