Job Summary
This role owns the data layer design, performance, and reliability for the platform, focusing on scalable, secure database schemas and data architecture across relational and non-relational paradigms. You will guide technology selection, integrate AI-Augmented practices into daily workflows for schema design, query optimization, and documentation, and lead migrations and modernization efforts on AWS. Key outcomes include reliable, high-performing data services, secure and compliant configurations, and observable systems. You’ll collaborate with engineering, product, SRE, and support to deliver changes with minimal client impact, mentor others, and raise data standards across the org.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of hands-on database engineering/administration experience with depth in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL
- Strong proficiency with SQL Server; familiarity with MongoDB and/or other non-relational systems a plus
- Experience with AWS data platform services (RDS, Aurora, Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, Kinesis)
- Experience with data quality practices and tooling (validation, lineage, governance)
- Demonstrated use of AI tools in day-to-day technical work and understanding of AI-backed data infrastructure (vector storage, RAG, embeddings)
- Experience with data modeling, query optimization, indexing/partitioning, HA, backup/DR
- Scripting/Observability tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash); monitoring tooling
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent certifications a plus
- Bonus: prior lead/management experience
