Job Summary
Manage and secure highly available SQL databases, focusing on open-source systems like PostgreSQL. Implement database tuning and performance optimization while designing and deploying cluster configurations across multiple networks. Configure, maintain, and test failover mechanisms to ensure data integrity and provide innovative solutions for complex mission-critical problems. Identify problem areas using specialized tools to drive continuous improvement in database operations. Requires 7+ years of SQL experience, 3+ years with open-source databases, and Top Secret/SCI clearance. Full-time role in Reston, VA.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience with SQL database development and administration
- 3+ years of experience with deployment and administration of Postgres or other open-source SQL databases
- Experience with installing, configuring and administering EnterpriseDB Postgres Advanced Server or PostgreSQL in a Linux environment
- Experience with database replication
- Knowledge of EnterpriseDB Failover Manager or Replication Manager (repmgr)
- Experience with database backup and recovery
- Knowledge of Backup and Recovery Tool (BART), Barman, or pgBackRest
- Ability to attain a DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification or higher
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with leveraging Postgres Enterprise Manager to monitor and manage Postgres databases
- Experience with migrating from other database systems to Postgres
- Experience with EDB Postgres for Kubernetes
- Experience with Ansible or other configuration management and automation tools
- Knowledge of PostGIS extensions and functions
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification or higher
