Job Summary
Administrate and operate scalable and secure database systems (MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, etc.); optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource management; implement and maintain data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to database services; collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and DevOps teams to support application development and data integration; monitor database health and proactively address issues related to performance, availability, and security; share knowledge within the IT department through knowledge base articles; stay up to date with the latest database technology features and updates to optimize usage; collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements; ensure compliance with data governance and privacy regulations; manage or support IT projects; work with other IT departments as needed; support audits and certifications (TISAX, ISO27001); define and enforce department operating policies, procedures and budget; adhere to corporate policies and legal requirements; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology (or equivalent education/experience)
- 3+ years experience in database engineering or administration
- Strong proficiency in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MariaDB) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra)
- First experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and database-as-a-service offerings
- Certifications in database technologies or cloud platforms
- First experience with automation tools (CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code using Python, Ansible)
