Job Summary
Database Administrator-IMS Logical responsible for backup and recovery, database knowledge (logical and physical design), troubleshooting database performance issues and query tuning concepts. Performs data management tasks (loading/unloading, updating, restoring, removing data) to ensure database accuracy as a data source. Conducts database maintenance (Adhoc Reorgs, Runstats) on demand and monitors scheduled maintenance. Manages space by purging obsolete data and reclaiming space. Identifies and troubleshoots high-priority database issues; monitors backups and maintenance jobs, and troubleshoots job failures in coordination with Operations. Monitors databases for unusual activities, checks logs, and refreshes Dev/Test databases with production backups as requested. Works in a collaborative multi-client environment. Off-hours support and on-call participation are required. Platforms: z/os DB2, IMS; Bonus Platforms: IDMS, Adabase, Supra, System 2000, Datacom.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of Cobol Programming
- Knowledge of Database Third party Software tools is a plus, (Omegamon, Tmon, BMC Suite, CA DB2 Toolset) is a Plus
- Platforms: z/os DB2, IMS
- Bonus Platforms: IDMS, Adabase, Supra, System 2000, Datacom
- Off Hours Support as required
- Participate in Oncall Schedule
