Job Summary

Administer, monitor, and support Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL database environments, handling installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations. Monitor database health, performance, and capacity while troubleshooting issues and implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Manage security, user access, and high-availability solutions, automating tasks through scripting and tooling. Design, develop, and maintain business intelligence and data products using Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, and Power Apps. Perform QA, deploy solutions within Microsoft Fabric, and implement data quality and observability capabilities. This hybrid role splits time between operational database support and engineering data products. Team members work two days in-office at the Warrenton, VA or Atlanta, GA office.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience administering SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL databases in a production environment
  • Strong experience with: SQL Server Administration
  • Strong experience with: PostgreSQL Administration
  • Strong experience with: Performance tuning and query optimization
  • Strong experience with: Backup and recovery processes
  • Strong experience with: Database security and access management
  • Strong experience with: High availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience developing data products with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps)
  • Advanced SQL development and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work in the office at least two days per week
  • Must be available for hybrid work in either Warrenton, VA or Atlanta, GA

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience supporting cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
  • Experience implementing database monitoring and observability solutions
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL certifications
  • Strong attention to detail and operational discipline
  • Ability to balance production support responsibilities with engineering initiatives
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a passion for automation
