Job Summary
Install and configure Microsoft SQL Server instances, maintain, monitor, and patch existing environments powering several hundred enterprise applications. Add, modify, and audit system permissions to improve enterprise threat posture while maintaining backup jobs and performing capacity planning. Detect and troubleshoot database slowness, resource contention, and locking issues. Upgrade and migrate legacy SQL versions, assist with database build automation, and develop new queries, views, stored procedures, and ETLs. Provide continuous planned uptime through rotating on-call duties and DR planning. Participate in agile team development projects and work with the infrastructure team on cluster resource planning and purchasing decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in computer-related field
- two to five years SQL and or programming experience
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Evidence of ability to analyze and translate user requirements into specifications and prepare detailed design/implementation documentation
- Demonstrated ability in analytical reasoning and logical problem solving
- Hands-on knowledge and experience of SQL Server design, build, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
- Hands-on knowledge and experience in development and scripting in a variety of programming languages, including T-SQL, PowerShell, C#, SSIS, SSRS
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server + CAL and Core licensing models and editions
- Knowledge and experience in DevOps practices, CI/CD and Agile
- Knowledge and experience in advanced SQL Server features and architectures including Cloud, AlwaysOn and containerization
- Ability to advocate for appropriate technology solutions and to continually advance the organization's readiness and capabilities
