Job Summary
Install, configure, and maintain database management systems including SQL and NoSQL databases while ensuring data integrity through backup, recovery, and encryption protocols. Monitor performance, apply patches, and conduct optimization of SQL queries and database objects to ensure high availability. Develop and test backup and recovery plans, design data models and schema changes, and collaborate with developers to optimize indexes and stored procedures. Troubleshoot database-related issues promptly and maintain technical documentation for team training. Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements. This role requires a Bachelor's degree and proficiency in MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB, with experience in cloud services like AWS RDS.
Required Qualifications
- Local to Berlin, Germany, or ready to relocate to the employer's location
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
- Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database performance tuning
- Experience with backup and recovery, replication, and high-availability configurations
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with data warehousing and big data technologies
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation
- Certification in database administration (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator)
