Data Tools Team Manager

Job Summary

Lead and develop a Data Tools Team of approximately 20 software development professionals, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture. Set objectives, conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and manage recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning activities. Oversee team capacity, resource planning, and workload balancing while supporting Agile ways of working, including sprint planning and delivery monitoring. Monitor delivery progress, risks, and dependencies to drive continuous improvement of processes and operational efficiency. Build strong relationships with Product Management, Development Teams, Content Teams, Sales, and Senior Leadership to ensure alignment between business priorities and available team capacity. Communicate project status, priorities, and delivery plans to key stakeholders. This fixed-term contract provides maternity cover for a role based in Szczecin, Poland.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing teams and developing people
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams, foster engagement, and support professional growth
  • Experience conducting performance reviews, coaching employees, and supporting career development
  • Experience with recruitment, workforce planning, and resource allocation
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in software development organizations and collaborating with engineering teams
  • Experience leading technical professionals without necessarily being the primary technical decision-maker
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycles, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and delivery practices
  • Experience in project planning, delivery oversight, effort estimation, resource management, and risk mitigation
  • Practical experience with Jira or similar work management tools
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear delivery priorities and work effectively with technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable discussing technical topics with engineering teams
  • Understanding of delivery implications
  • Ability to identify risks
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Ability to make informed management decisions
  • Knowledge of C# (.NET Framework, .NET Core)
  • Knowledge of WPF and desktop applications
  • Knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Knowledge of Web APIs (HTTP/REST/JSON)
  • Knowledge of Automated testing
  • Knowledge of Microservices and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of Linux environments
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of Monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Zabbix)
  • Knowledge of Performance analysis and troubleshooting
  • Preferred location for this position is Szczecin, Poland

Desired Qualifications
