Job Summary
Data Steward drives data quality and governance within Old Mutual Africa’s data ecosystem. Responsibilities include implementing and evolving data architecture solutions, defining and enforcing data quality specifications, eliciting complex business requirements, managing data within a governance framework, supporting information security incident response, documenting technical/user guidance, and maintaining regulatory compliance knowledge. The role requires Bachelor’s-level education in computer science or related fields, 3-5 years of data-related experience, knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK, and proficiency with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/Lean). Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills are essential, with the ability to work independently in an Agile team and pursue relevant professional accreditation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar fields like Information Systems, Big Data, etc would be advantageous
- Diploma in business analysis would be preferable
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a Data role
- Related Technical certifications (DAMA-DMBOK)
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and project management practices, including Scrum, Kanban, and Lean
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment in an Agile framework
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skill
