Job Summary

Data Steward for Wells & Subsurface data in bp's Production & Operations group, responsible for curating and validating accuracy, security, and referential integrity of data across systems of record; implementing data requirements to populate systems of record and transpose data between software; performing input quality checks and providing technical insights for defining and maintaining data definitions; collaborating with data engineers and business analysts to ensure high-quality, standardized data; enforcing governance policies, standards, and regulations; supporting metadata management and data literacy across the organization; assisting in regulatory and compliance efforts related to data privacy, security, and access control; delivering data quality improvement through root-cause analysis and remediation planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geosciences, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience in industry standard Petro-technical tools
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, master data management principles, policies, and compliance within the wells & subsurface data domain
  • Ability to work with business and technical teams to resolve data quality issues
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Analytical mindset with a strong focus on data accuracy and process improvement
  • Desirable: Studio Petrel front end and back end, proficiency in SQL and Python, cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Excel/Power BI for analytics
