Job Summary
Data Specialist to administer and sustain Apache Kafka infrastructure and related data platform components in an on-premises, secured environment, supporting PeopleSoft HCM and enterprise integrations. Responsibilities include managing Kafka brokers, topics, partitions, replication, access controls, certificates, and secure connectivity; developing scripts, runbooks, SOPs, and automation to improve reliability and reduce manual effort; monitoring cluster health, throughput, latency, and consumer lag; coordinating incident response and ensuring compliance with security requirements; supporting platform hardening, change control, and audit readiness; and collaborating across teams to ensure stable production data operations in development, test, and production environments.
Required Qualifications
- Experience administering Apache Kafka in on-premises environments
- Linux/UNIX/Solaris experience
- Scripting and automation skills
- Experience with PeopleSoft HCM
- Security/compliance with enterprise requirements (DISA-aligned)
- High availability, backup and recovery planning
- Audit readiness and change control
- Collaboration with application, middleware, ETL, database, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams
- Incident handling and production support
