Job Summary
Data Solutions Engineer responsible for designing and delivering Big Data pipelines in Hadoop or Snowflake, migrating legacy workloads to cloud, and building a data-as-a-service framework. Collaborates with domain experts, product managers, analysts, and data scientists to elicit requirements and implement robust data engineering solutions. Leads migration efforts to cloud platforms, mentors team members on Big Data and cloud stacks, evaluates open-source technologies for integration, and converts SAS-based pipelines to PySpark/Scala for execution on both Hadoop and non-Hadoop ecosystems. Focuses on maintaining maintainability, testability, performance, security, quality, and usability across the data platform, and drives the implementation of reusable patterns and coding standards. Knowledge of Google Cloud or AWS, SAS, Docker/Kubernetes, and Hadoop ecosystem is required; familiarity with Snowflake and Java/Apache Beam is desirable.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with Hadoop and Big Data technologies
- Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and Scala
- Experience developing data solutions leveraging Google Cloud or AWS; relevant certifications preferred
- Experience with SAS
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of software engineering and data analytics
- Hands-on knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Pig, Impala, Kafka, Kudu, Solr)
- Knowledge of Agile (Scrum) development methodologies
- Strong development and automation skills
- System-level understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed storage and compute
