Job Summary
Develop and maintain data security frameworks, standards, and control requirements to support enterprise objectives and regulatory expectations. Assess data security risks, review control effectiveness, and provide guidance to technology teams on control design considerations across cloud and emerging technology environments. Partner with risk management, compliance, legal, and business stakeholders to align security practices with enterprise priorities and ensure regulatory requirements are understood and achieved. This role contributes to strategic initiatives and the evolution of enterprise data security capabilities, including DSPM solutions and platforms like Databricks and Microsoft Azure. The position requires 5+ years of experience in information security and involves working in a hybrid arrangement with two days per week on-site in Chicago.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in information security, data security, cyber security, risk management, compliance, or a related field
- Experience working across both governance and technical advisory responsibilities in a complex environment
- Understanding of data security governance
- Knowledge of governance frameworks, control design, risk management principles, and compliance expectations
- Ability to apply knowledge in a practical and business-focused way
- Knowledge of modern data security capabilities
- Experience with data discovery platforms
- Experience with Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) solutions
- Experience with Databricks
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Knowledge of data security considerations related to generative artificial intelligence
- Ability to build strong relationships across technical and business teams
- Ability to translate complex security requirements into clear, actionable guidance for different audiences
- Ability to think critically and make sound recommendations
- Ability to assess issues, identify control gaps, and recommend solutions that support both security objectives and business priorities
- A degree or diploma in Information Security, Cyber Security, or a related discipline
- Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), or Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE)
- Ability to manage work activities within a remote (if non-local) or hybrid work arrangement
- 2 days per week on-site in Chicago
