Job Summary
Data Scientist II role focused on developing innovative ML solutions, transforming complex datasets into actionable insights, and maintaining data mining tools. You will collaborate across departments to promote data-driven decision-making, validate analytical outputs, and provide strategic recommendations. Must bring a degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience, at least 2 years in advanced statistics, data mining, and text mining, and strong technical skills with Python and GitHub. Experience with Large Language Models, ML theory, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders are required. Quebec candidates should be bilingual; work eligibility in Canada is required. The role operates within a 35-hour workweek and offers a hybrid work model in Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., mathematics, engineering, operations research, statistics, geomatics, AI) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in advanced statistics, data mining, and text mining
- Proficiency in Python and GitHub (data mining frameworks, open-source and commercial)
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) - integrating with APIs and evaluation techniques
- Strong machine learning understanding and methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple projects
- Bilingualism required for candidates located in Quebec (English-French interaction)
- Eligible to work in Canada (no sponsoring immigration-related matters)
