Job Summary
Conduct deep-dive analytics on strategic initiatives by accessing data, running models, and solving business problems. Develop and deploy predictive and descriptive machine learning models throughout the customer lifecycle while establishing relationships with internal stakeholders. Serve as a strategic thought partner for leaders to identify opportunities where modeling adds value. This role requires 1-2+ years of professional data science experience and a hard quantitative degree. Candidates must demonstrate excellent risk modeling skills, proficiency in SQL and Python/R, and the ability to translate technical concepts into business value. The position offers a salary range of $140,000 - $160,000 plus bonus, with hybrid options in San Mateo, CA and Phoenix, AZ.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2+ years of experience as a professional data scientist
- Excellent risk modeling and analytic skills
- Proficient coding skills in SQL and Python/R
- Keen eye for opportunities to get value from data
- Ambitious, resourceful, and possessed of excellent judgment as evidenced by steadily growing professional responsibility
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects at any given time
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter
- Education in a hard quantitative field (e.g. Math, Stats, Economics, Operations Research, etc.)

Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a regulated industry like banking with hands-on compliance work
- Experience developing BI dashboards using Tableau
- Experience in consumer lending domain (secured/unsecured loans, credit cards, etc.) or fintech lending environment
- Experience with credit risk modeling (development & monitoring) and loss/prepayment forecasting
- Experience working with credit decisioning engines such as Oscilar, TakTile etc.
- Experience working with capital markets and servicing businesses
- Knowledge or working experience in loan-level economics, yield curves, margins/profitability, etc.
- Experience working in the GCP environment
- A Passion for fintech, agile environment, ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, fast-paced team
- Ideal candidates will have an advanced degree (>= MS)
