Job Summary
Data Scientist on Applied Materials’ JOLT team working on GenAI and ML solutions to rebuild customer trust, optimize supply chain, and drive profitability through advanced analytics. Responsibilities include developing complex analytical models, researching and deploying machine learning models from inception to production, guiding GenAI architectures for plugin-based solutions and custom GenAI applications, performing data mining and forecasting for materials and service parts, collaborating with multiple cross-functional teams to gather requirements, and communicating insights to leadership. Requires an advanced quantitative degree and hands-on GenAI/ML experience; proficient in Python/SQL and DL frameworks; strong analytical and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Operations Research)
- 0-2 years of industry experience in applied machine learning or related AI work
- Hands-on experience building GenAI-focused applications (e.g., agents, reasoning workflows, or RAG)
- Solid understanding of how large language models are architected and operated
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and tools such as scikit-learn, and forecasting libraries
- Experience with Deep Learning frameworks (PyTorch, Jax, TensorFlow)
- MLOps including model deployment, versioning and performance monitoring in production environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with GenAI-focused applications and embedding-based search systems
- Experience with planning and deploying AI-driven prototypes to enhance business operations
