Data Scientist 2 applies data science in advanced analytics such as predictive modeling and data mining in a big data environment to deliver predictive models and insights. The role involves data extraction and sampling, data integrity checks, preprocessing, exploratory data analysis to guide modeling choices, and identifying hidden patterns with unsupervised techniques. Responsibilities include feature engineering, training and tuning supervised models (GLMs, tree-based methods, neural nets), model validation to prevent over-fitting, and communicating business impact to management. Collaborates with internal partners to translate analytical results into actionable recommendations and develops foundational knowledge of credit card operations, banking, financial services, loyalty programs, and relevant regulations while engaging with other data scientists to share best practices and innovations. The candidate will also explore industry trends, experiment with new tools, and contribute to model risk management and governance documentation.
