Job Summary
Lead and supervise AHRI's research data management, biostatistics, AI/ML analytics, bioinformatics and health informatics activities. Provide data science leadership across the research cycle—from hypothesis generation and study design to implementation, data analysis, dissemination of findings and data curation. Manage and mentor the research data management, biostatistics, AI/ML analytics and health informatics teams with the aim of enhancing data analysis quality and the incorporation of artificial intelligence and machine learning across the research cycle. Requires a PhD (or MSc with substantial relevant experience) and at least 10 years of leadership experience in medical research, plus 5+ years of people-management experience. Strong programming skills (R, Stata, Python, Julia), excellent project-management, organizational, and communication abilities in English, and the ability to work under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Statistics, Data Science or related field OR MSc with equivalent research experience in medical research
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a lead statistician, bioinformatician or data scientist in medical research
- At least five years’ experience in managing, supervising and mentoring research staff
- Experience leading analyses of large and complex longitudinal datasets
- Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary research teams
- Excellent knowledge of statistical software or high-level programming language (R, Stata, Python, Julia)
- Effective project and people management skills
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Excellent problem identification and solving skills
- Accuracy and precision
- Must be able to work under pressure
