Job Summary

Onsite Data Science and Business Analytics Manager role in Abbott Diabetes Care, Alameda, CA. Lead the development and communication of key performance indicators and strategic analyses for stakeholders, partnering with internal and external teams to deliver data-driven insights. Design and deploy analytics models (classification, regression, clustering, time-series) and causal inference methods (Difference-in-Differences, Synthetic Control, geo experiments) to drive business decisions. Build repeatable, interpretable analytics products and dashboards; analyze large, complex data (prescription, medical claims, longitudinal patient data); translate technical findings to business audiences; manage multiple projects with cross-functional teams. Strong emphasis on SQL data extraction, data warehousing, and tools like Python, ML libraries, Tableau/Power BI, AWS (SageMaker, Redshift), PostgreSQL; communicate insights to senior leadership and stakeholders; healthcare analytics experience is a plus.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 9 years of related work experience
  • 5+ years experience in commercial or market analytics in healthcare (preferred)
  • Proficiency in machine learning for clustering, classification, regression, anomaly detection, simulation, optimization
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, H2O.ai, cloud AI platforms, containerization)
  • Experience with enterprise market analytics, data management/mining, financial modeling, and market forecasting to measure KPIs and marketing effectiveness
  • Experience utilizing large healthcare data sets (claims, longitudinal patient-level data)
  • Strong SQL and data warehousing skills
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills with data storytelling
  • Knowledge of data architecture and dashboarding tools (SQL, Tableau, AWS, Python, ML, Predictive Analytics)
  • MBA or MS in related fields preferred (not required)
  • Experience in diabetes, CGM, metabolic health; healthcare analytics experience is a plus
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Amazon Redshift and PostgreSQL (plus)
  • Knowledge of AWS/SageMaker is a plus
  • Understanding of marketing mix modeling and segmentation analysis
