Data Protection Advisor

Job Summary
Support the ongoing delivery and evolution of the Group's data protection compliance framework by acting as a trusted contact for internal stakeholders. Manage and respond to data subject rights requests including DSARs, erasure, objection, and restriction while supporting investigations into personal data breaches. Maintain core governance documentation such as RoPAs, DPIAs, and LIAs, and review data protection clauses across contracts and supplier agreements. Provide day-to-day operational support to the Data Protection team, deliver training and awareness across the Group, and track regulatory developments for policy updates. Work closely with the Data Protection Manager to balance regulatory requirements with commercial outcomes in a fast-paced, multi-brand retail environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in data protection, privacy, compliance or risk or governance
- Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR
- Confident interpreting regulation and applying it in a commercial, business focused way
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
- Strong attention to detail with high professional standards
- Confident communicator, able to build relationships across all levels
- Proactive, solutions focused and keen to develop
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in financial services, banking, insurance or other regulated environments
- Background in financial services, fintech, banking, insurance or other regulated sectors
- Relevant qualifications such as CIPP or CIPM or BCS
- Experience in retail, e commerce or large scale consumer businesses
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 or wider data governance frameworks
- Interest or exposure to emerging tech such as AI, biometrics or advanced analytics
