Job Summary
Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models using erwin Data Modeler, generating and optimizing DDL scripts for Oracle and SQL Server databases. Perform forward and reverse engineering of existing schemas, conduct model reviews with impact analysis, and support dimensional modeling for data warehousing. Collaborate with data architects, DBAs, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into normalized, governance-compliant structures. Assist in database migrations, schema comparisons, and environment synchronization while adhering to Oncor's Data Governance Policy. Participate in design reviews and present model documentation to technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on data modeling experience in enterprise environments
- Expert proficiency with Erwin Data Modeler
- Advanced SQL skills and deep understanding of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Strong command of DDL – creating and modifying tables, indexes, constraints, sequences, synonyms, and materialized views
- Solid grasp of database internals: indexing strategies, partitioning, clustering, and query execution plans
- Experience with data modeling best practices: normalization, denormalization, surrogate keys, slowly changing dimensions (SCD), and data vault
- Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and model comparison/diff tools
- Excellent communication skills – ability to document models clearly and present to technical and non-technical audiences
- Self-Motivated, with an ability to multi-task
- Capable of presenting to all levels of audiences
- Works well in a team environment
