Job Summary
Plan, execute, and report on datalink system test events for the 46 Test Squadron at Eglin AFB, interfacing directly with System Program Offices, Joint Battle Labs, and product development contractors. Operate datalink equipment and protocols including Link 16, SADL, and MADL, while reviewing customer requirements and leading test planning meetings. Develop test plans, procedures, and schedules to produce timely reports, author technical documents, and conduct formal presentations. Travel up to 20% of the time to contractors' facilities and test sites to collect and reduce data. Requires an MS degree or 15 years experience, active Secret clearance, and proficiency with tactical radios and data link systems.
Required Qualifications
- MS Degree in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (i.e., EE, AE, ME, etc.) or 15 years of applicable experience and a BS Degree
- An active Secret Clearance adjudicated within the past five years with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
- Working knowledge of tactical data links, computers and computer software
- Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally
- Able to travel to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations, CONUS and OCONUS, up to 20% of the time
- Strong work ethic; Comfortable working in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
Desired Qualifications
- Good understanding of Advanced Battle Management Systems and PEO for C3BM
- Technical experience with DoD digital/tactical information distribution data links; preferably with Link 16, MADL, SADL, and VMF
- Technical experience in the areas related to data link radios, radio frequency waves/propagation, Electronic Warfare and ad hoc computer networks like Starlink
- Experience and knowledge of tactical datalinks such as CDL, Link 16 Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS), and Multinational Information Distribution System (MIDS) in both Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) mission threads
- Proficiency with the Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems
- Understanding of USAF DT&E processes, specifically acquisition program development and detailed knowledge of Air Force Command and Control (C2) test methodologies including AFI 99-103, Capabilities Based Test and Evaluation
- Knowledge of systems analysis and application software development concepts, functions, and techniques
- Able to evaluate tactical communications emerging technologies
- Security+ certification
