Job Summary
Data Governance Specialist at GROPYUS leads the definition, development, and execution of the data governance framework and associated policies across the Data and AI vertical. You’ll drive data quality initiatives, enhance Data Catalog and metadata management, implement data provenance processes, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (GDPR, EU AI Act), and collaborate with Governance, Risk & Compliance, Information Security, and Corporate IT. The role involves partnering with data leadership and product teams, evaluating and guiding data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Talend), and applying semantic ontologies and data contracts to data fabric initiatives. Desirable experience includes ontologies (OWL, semantic languages), Data Fabric/Data Mesh familiarity, and exposure to graph databases, with a focus on construction, consulting, or healthcare domains. The role offers flexible work arrangements (home, park, or office) within an international team, with stock options and opportunities to drive governance initiatives and training across stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Management, Information Assurance, Computer Science, IT or related fields
- Significant, specialized experience (5+ years) in data governance, data quality, data management
- Experience with data governance frameworks & best practices (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, data stewardship models)
- Strong knowledge of data quality dimensions and tools; ability to define, measure, monitor, remediate data quality
- Good understanding of data architecture, data modeling, metadata management, data lineage
- Strong communication, stakeholder management skills; ability to influence, negotiate, collaborate cross-teams
- Proficient in working with regulatory and legal data/privacy requirements (e.g. GDPR. EU AI Act)
- Hands-on experience with data governance tools/platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Talend)
- Past projects or familiarity with Ontologies, OWL and Semantic languages
- Familiarity with Data Fabric or Data Mesh frameworks
- Familiarity or Experience with Graph Databases
- Experience with highly complex, dynamic domains (Construction, Consulting, or Health Care)
