Job Summary
Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy, including policies for classification, security, quality, and retention. Define master data management architecture and business rules for critical domains, coordinating with vendors to oversee maintenance and drive cleanup initiatives. Establish data quality standards, collaborate with stakeholders to enforce regulatory compliance (GDPR, PDPA), and manage relationships with third-party solution providers. Facilitate governance council meetings, conduct training sessions to champion a data-driven culture, and track key metrics to measure initiative effectiveness. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on progress and areas for improvement. This greenfield opportunity begins with SAP master data before expanding to other systems and global applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years in data governance, data management, or related roles
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, or MDM programs
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, PDPA) and proven experience ensuring compliance within an organization
- Expertise in industry-standard frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM)
- Ability to define and enforce data quality metrics and processes
- Working knowledge of data architecture concepts, with a focus on governance best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders, lead workshops, and facilitate change
- Familiarity with data security, privacy laws, and best practices for handling sensitive data
- Ability to analyze complex data issues and propose effective governance strategies
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and external vendors, with strong organizational and planning skills
- Willingness to mentor other data professionals and champion data governance across the business
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant certifications in data governance or data management (e.g., SAP MDG, Informatica, DAMA CDMP, Collibra)
- Familiarity with SAP master data, SAP MDG, and broader MDM processes
- Ability to oversee external providers handling technical implementations
