Job Summary
As a Leading Data Engineer at Aviva, you will lead a team of Snowflake and Cyclops Data Engineers, making strategic and tactical decisions that impact platform engineering. You will build secure, scalable engineering solutions focused on automation, manage CI/CD pipelines, ensure compliance with security protocols, and drive continuous improvement best practices. Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in a relevant role as a senior or tech lead
- Good understanding of reliability patterns and performance optimisation for large‐scale data workloads
- Experience implementing data quality rules and robust testing approaches
- Understanding of CI/CD, and modern engineering practices like Azure DevOps
Desired Qualifications
- Deep hands‐on experience with Snowflake including advanced capabilities like Dynamic Tables, Snowpipe Streaming, and secure views
- Proficiency in Snowflake scripting (stored procedures in Python/SQL, UDFs)
- Experience designing reusable frameworks using Snowpark or SQL
- Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures and serverless/data-pipeline design (ideally AWS)
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Airflow
- Experience with ETL/ELT development and monitoring frameworks
- Hands-on experience with dbt and Git
- Knowledge of data formats such as Parquet, JSON, and YAML
