Job Summary
Data Engineering Manager to lead Data Engineering practice at WPP/VML MAP. Hands-on technical leadership role responsible for building data pipelines and data warehouses across cloud platforms (GCP, Snowflake, Azure) and CRM systems (Salesforce DataCloud, Adobe Experience Platform). Define standards for data pipelines, transformations, and integrations; utilize dbt, Airflow, Terraform, and ELT/ETL frameworks to deliver analytics-ready data models. Serve as trusted technical advisor to clients, mentor engineers, and shape practice direction and offerings. Collaborate with Architects, Strategy Consultants, and client services to deliver integrated solutions. Strong architectural and communication skills; experience mentoring engineers, translating technical trade-offs to clients, and developing new service offerings. Agency or consulting experience is a strong advantage.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on data engineering experience
- Management experience leading engineers
- Proficiency in SQL and Python
- Expertise with dbt, Airflow, Terraform
- Experience with cloud data platforms (GCP BigQuery, Snowflake, Azure)
- Experience with data modeling, governance, quality
- Experience working with CRM data platforms (Salesforce Data Cloud, Adobe AEP) is a plus
- Client-facing skills and ability to connect technical solutions to business value
- Experience building data pipelines for AI/LLM applications is a plus
- Strong communication skills in English
- Agency or consulting experience is an advantage
- Ability to mentor engineers and lead through technical vision
- Experience developing new service offerings and standards
- Ownership and accountability for domain
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) is a plus
- Cloud or dbt certifications are a plus
- Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and modern engineering workflows
