Data Engineer (SnowFlake)

Job Summary

Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for Snowflake-based data platforms, pipelines, and integrations by monitoring availability, warehouse utilisation, and data quality to address issues proactively. Investigate and resolve incidents across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers, performing root cause analysis to implement permanent fixes and reduce repeat failures. Develop and maintain SQL transformations, stored logic, and pipeline enhancements while supporting scheduled releases and deployments in line with change governance. Apply security and governance controls, including role-based access and data masking, to ensure compliance with audit and contractual standards. Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and known error records to improve support efficiency and knowledge reuse. Participate in on-call and major incident support processes to ensure timely service restoration and stakeholder communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting Snowflake data platforms, including troubleshooting pipelines, transformations, integrations, and downstream data issues
  • Advanced SQL capability, with the ability to develop, refine, and support data transformations and operational fixes efficiently
  • Solid understanding of data engineering concepts, including ingestion, orchestration, data quality, performance tuning, and platform dependencies
  • Proven incident and problem management skills, with the ability to investigate root causes, implement permanent fixes, and prevent repeat failures
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake security and governance, including access control, least-privilege principles, auditability, and controlled data access
  • Experience supporting releases and changes in a managed services or operational support environment, with disciplined use of change processes
  • Strong monitoring and analytical skills, with the ability to detect service degradation, trend recurring issues, and act proactively
  • Clear stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to prioritise work, manage expectations, and explain technical issues in plain language
  • Well-developed documentation and knowledge management habits, including runbooks, support notes, known errors, and operational procedures
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify automation opportunities, improve supportability, and enhance service reliability over time
