Job Summary
Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines powering VicRoads’ data platform. You’ll contribute to delivering reliable, governed data for analytics, reporting, and business insights across the organisation, translating data requirements into effective technical solutions. You will work with Databricks, Spark, dbt, and Kafka; possess strong SQL and Python skills; apply CI/CD practices; understand data governance, quality, and security; collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders; and help advance reusable components and governance practices. Applicants must be Australian citizens and obtain a Baseline security clearance on commencement. The role is based in Melbourne/Victoria with a hybrid work arrangement and usual work location at QV 180 Lonsdale Street CBD, Melbourne, Australia, with potential work-from-home elements.
Required Qualifications
- 3–4+ years experience building and maintaining data pipelines
- SQL proficiency
- at least one programming language (e.g. Python)
- experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g. Apache Spark)
- experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Databricks, AWS Redshift)
- understanding of ETL/ELT, data modeling, data governance, data quality and security best practices
- CI/CD practices for data pipelines
- ability to work with stakeholders and deliver data-driven insights
