Job Summary
Data Engineer on Lyft’s Marketplace – Decision Apps team responsible for owning and evolving data pipelines powering financial, pricing, and driver-related metrics. Design data models and architectures, implement solutions grounded in engineering principles and data analysis, and provide seamless access to insights. Key duties include maintaining resilient data pipelines, evolving data models, monitoring data quality, developing self-service ETL tooling, performing SQL tuning, contributing to the engineering roadmap, writing clean and scalable code, conducting code reviews, participating in on-call rotations, and collaborating with analytics, data science, and engineering partners. Required skills include advanced SQL, Python or Java, Spark ETL, Airflow or Flyte, data modeling, data validation, and experience with MPP systems. Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering as a hands-on Individual Contributor delivering features end-to-end
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (analytics, science, product, and engineering) to align data solutions with business objectives
- Proficient in data validation, analysis, and visualization for clear insight presentation
- Skilled in designing complex data models and resilient data pipelines, with solid understanding of analytical data modeling
- Expertise in advanced SQL, capable of understanding intricate business logic and implementing custom solutions
- Strong algorithmic foundation and hands-on coding skills in Python, Java, or similar languages
- Deep understanding of MPP systems and hands-on experience with ETL in Spark or similar technologies
- Familiarity with data system design principles for data-intensive applications
- Practical experience with workflow management tools (e.g., Airflow, Flyte, etc.)
- In-office hybrid role with minimum 3 days/week onsite in Toronto, Canada
