Job Summary
Coach and mentor a caseload of learners through 1:1 sessions and workshops, guiding them to connect theory with practice and design reliable, scalable, secure data solutions. Teach practical data engineering concepts grounded in real-world experience, helping professionals transition from task-based execution to confident, reflective engineers. Model strong professional judgement around performance, cost, security, privacy, and ethics while supporting learners through assessments and portfolios with high standards. This Level 5 role focuses on shaping the next generation of data engineers for Corndel, a UK training provider partnering with major organizations to develop capability at scale.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience as a Data Engineer or closely related role (Senior / Lead / BI / Data‐focused DevOps)
- Strong working knowledge of SQL (including complex queries and optimisation)
- Python for data pipelines and automation
- Data modelling and normalisation
- Batch data pipeline design
- Cloud data platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP welcomed)
- Understanding of data security, privacy, and ethical data use
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting others
- The ability to explain complex ideas clearly and thoughtfully
- Existing right to work in the UK
- Standard DBS Disclosure
Desired Qualifications
- Azure data engineering certifications (or willingness to gain them)
- Experience with tools such as Airflow, dbt, Spark, Databricks, CI/CD
- Workshop facilitation or structured learning delivery experience
