Job Summary
Data Engineer at Booz Allen: build and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms that organize and transform structured and unstructured data for mission-driven projects (fraud detection, cancer research, national intelligence). Collaborate with a cross-functional team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment. Design, develop, deploy, and operate ETL/ELT workflows and data-processing solutions; enable querying, streaming, and real-time analytics; leverage Python, Databricks, SQL, Spark, Hadoop, and cloud technologies across AWS/Azure/Google Cloud. Security clearance requirements: TS/SCI with polygraph and Secret clearance; Bachelor’s degree required. The role involves working on enterprise-scale data applications and guiding teams to scale and monitor data platforms, with emphasis on data organization for insights and mission impact.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in application development
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining complex data applications at enterprise scale
- 3+ years of experience creating software for retrieving, parsing, and processing structured and unstructured data
- 3+ years of experience building scalable ETL or ELT workflows for reporting and analytics
- Experience with Python, Databricks, SQL, Scala, or Java
- Experience with UNIX or Linux, including basic commands and Shell scripting
- Experience with a public cloud (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Experience with distributed data or computing tools (Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka)
- Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Experience with data warehousing (Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake)
- Experience with Agile engineering practices
- Bachelor’s degree
- Secret clearance
- TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
