Job Summary
Data Engineer contracted for the U.S. Government responsible for designing data workflows and ETL/ELT pipelines across AWS cloud and on-prem environments, ensuring data quality and secure exchange of sensitive information. Responsibilities include building reliable, scalable data layer systems, deploying and operating Kafka/Redpanda/Kinesis on Kubernetes with declarative definitions, collaborating with platform teams on configuration management, security and performance optimization in Kubernetes/AWS, automating infrastructure provisioning and monitoring with Terraform, and ensuring DoD regulatory compliance. The role involves travel 6-10 times per year, requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level DoD security clearance, and is remote within the United States.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of building and maintaining production data pipelines, databases, and data exchange services on Kubernetes
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating Kafka/Redpanda data streaming solutions on Kubernetes
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles for reliability, scalability, and maintainability of data layer systems
- Familiarity with API Security, Container Security, AWS Cloud Security
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for securing data layer systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Pre-employment background check and ability to obtain/maintain Secret-level DoD security clearance
- Experience with machine learning and generative AI models
- Strong communication skills
