Job Summary
Build and maintain Python-based data pipelines in BigQuery to prepare financial data for analytical consumption. Develop dbt models using medallion architecture to create clean datasets that power self-serve analytics and conversational interfaces. Write SQL transformations for dashboards and AI-driven insights while collaborating with senior engineers to translate requirements into structured code. Partner with finance stakeholders to validate that solutions deliver actionable insights, then participate in code reviews and team documentation to support adoption. Work in a hybrid role in Seattle, WA, with a minimum 4-day office presence at corporate headquarters.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
- Internship or coursework experience in software engineering or data engineering
- Python Proficiency: Ability to write clean, readable Python code for data processing and application development
- SQL Fundamentals: Comfortable writing queries to explore, transform, and validate data
- Data Concepts: Understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and ELT/ETL patterns
- Cloud Familiarity: Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) through coursework or projects
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when debugging data issues
- Candidates must be available to work in office at the Nordstrom corporate headquarters a minimum of 4 days/week to be considered for this position
Desired Qualifications
