Job Summary
Contract Field Data Collection Technician to support traffic-behavior studies across the Mid-Atlantic region (PA, DE, MD, VA). Travel to deployment locations, set up and monitor roadside equipment (cameras, speed sensors, tripods, laptops), deploy/manage multiple sensors, and upload data daily. Requires independent field work after training, comfort with outdoor conditions, attention to safety procedures, and access to a personal vehicle. Obvio provides field equipment, training, and reimbursed travel; position offers paid contract work with opportunities to contribute to real-world AI traffic-safety technology.
Required Qualifications
- Personal vehicle for transporting equipment to deployment locations
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel to field sites across Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia
- Ability to travel up to approximately two hours roundtrip per day, depending on deployment location
- Access to reliable home internet, not a mobile hotspot, for end-of-day data uploads
- Ability to recharge the provided laptop and equipment daily
- Availability for 3–4 days per week, with hours varying based on study schedules and travel needs
- Ability to periodically meet with the team in College Park, MD
- Technical education or experience preferred, such as computer science, engineering, data science, transportation, field operations, or a related area
- Recent graduates, graduate students, or candidates with hands-on technical field experience are encouraged to apply
