Job Summary

Monitor and respond to alarms across power, cooling, and fire systems while performing physical inspections to ensure infrastructure operates within defined parameters. Respond to faults and incidents by prioritizing actions and determining escalation needs, then carry out operational switching and control activities to prevent unplanned outages. Support planned maintenance and monitor contractors on site, ensuring strict adherence to safety procedures and approved methods of operation. Document incidents, maintenance activities, and observations to support continuous improvement. This rotating 24/7 shift roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) suits individuals comfortable making decisions in high-reliability environments. Hands-on training is provided through the CDC Academy for candidates with electrical, HVAC, or critical infrastructure backgrounds.

Required Qualifications

  • New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Resident
  • ability to obtain a NZ Security Clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Critical Infrastructure experience
  • HVAC experience
  • Electrical trades experience
  • trade or technical background in Electrical, Refrigeration/HVAC, Mechanical, or a related field
  • Experience working in critical or high‐availability environments with strong safety and compliance requirements
  • Exposure to monitoring or control systems such as BMS, EMS, or SCADA‐type platforms
  • Familiarity with complex infrastructure or plant equipment (e.g. HVAC systems, power systems, generators, fire systems)
  • Strong fault‐finding, problem‐solving, and situational awareness skills
  • The ability to produce clear documentation, logs, and post‐incident reports
