Data Centre Engineer

Job Summary
Manage physical build and maintenance of data centre environments by racking and stacking equipment, terminating fibre or copper cabling, and performing blade, memory, and hard drive installations. Diagnose hardware and software issues, test circuits, and execute equipment migrations while maintaining inventory verification and documenting all activities via a ticketing system. Ensure co-location cleanliness, monitor power utilization, and handle shipping and receiving for internal and external customers. Provide emergency outage assistance within one hour and report to facilities across Tokyo, EMEA, and APAC. Work flexible shift schedules including rotational on-call coverage from Tuesday to Saturday, with travel between data centres on short notice.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in Telecommunications or Data Centre related field
- In depth knowledge of Telecom structured cabling standards
- In depth knowledge of network device / server deployment
- In depth knowledge of DCO standards and operations
- 1+ years use of industry standard test equipment
- Effective organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Building Management System and Branch Circuit Monitoring experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Professional business communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch as required
- Must be able to work under a raised data center floor
- Must be able to climb ladders (up to 16 feet)
- Must be available for Tuesday to Saturday shifts (3pm to 11pm)
- Must be available for Saturday shifts (8am to 5pm)
- Must be able to travel between data centres in Tokyo and occasionally beyond
- Must be able to travel between EMEA, APAC and AMRS on short notice
- Must be able to work in short change windows, late at night and out of hours
- Must be able to report to the facility within 1 hour average for emergency outage assistance
- Must be able to work flexible shift schedules including rotational on-call coverage
