Job Summary
Install, route, and secure fiber optic and copper cabling in a data center, including Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a, SM/MM fiber. Perform rack and stack, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber and copper connections, read cable run lists and network diagrams, label cables/ports, maintain documentation, and ensure clean, scalable pathways. Use OTDR and power meters, support build-outs/decommissioning, follow TIA/EIA and BICSI standards, and adhere to safety protocols in a fast-paced data-center environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: At least 1 year of prior data center rack and stack experience, including knowledge of data center hardware installation, cable management, and general data center operations.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of server hardware, networking equipment, and how they integrate within a data center environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs), bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. Comfortable working in tight spaces.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure proper installation, cable management, and system configuration.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware issues and report any problems or discrepancies to senior technicians.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and follow instructions from senior technicians and project managers.
