Job Summary
Data Center Technician for freelance/contract on-site role in Mutterstadt, Germany. Responsibilities include hardware installations, decommissions, migrations, structured cabling (copper and fiber), server racking/stacking/labeling, cross-connects and patch panel work, troubleshooting connectivity and hardware issues, documenting work with photos and notes, and coordinating with remote NOC and client teams. Requires 2+ years of data center or IT infrastructure experience, strong cabling skills, familiarity with Dell/HP/Supermicro server hardware, ability to lift 50+ lbs, English communication skills, and preferred data center certifications (CDCP/CDCS) and network certifications (CCNA/CompTIA Network+). Tools: screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience
- Strong cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, single-mode/multi-mode fiber)
- Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in raised floor environments
- Own transportation and ability to work on-site
- Professional communication skills in English
- Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar) - preferred
- Network certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+) - preferred
- Experience with DCIM and ticketing systems - preferred
- Familiarity with major colocation providers - preferred
- Standard tools: screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment
