Job Summary
Datacenter Technician responsible for daily operations and maintenance of the datacenter, including installation of cabinets, equipment, and cross-connects, remote hands requests, and vendor maintenance of critical infrastructure. Tasks include project installation, testing and troubleshooting of telecom components (copper and fiber), cabling runs, patch panels, cross connects, and documentation. Requires hands-on experience with copper and fiber media, network hardware (Ethernet, Fiber Channel), cabling standards, equipment testing, and on-call 24x7 support; preferred BICSI credential and 2-3 years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- BICSI Technician Credential Preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in similar critical facilities
- High School Diploma
- Low voltage installation & troubleshooting experience a plus
- Fiber optic splicing experience a plus
- Functional knowledge of Inside Plant (ISP) disciplines; fiber optic and electrical cabling and labeling conforming to Telecom industry standards
- Strong technical and mechanical background with experience on transport gear and power systems
- Knowledge of VISIO, MS Office
- Analytical troubleshooting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast paced 24x7 environment with flexibility to work after-hours and weekends
