Job Summary
Data Center Technician role responsible for hardware installation/configuration of enterprise servers, rack and cabling, FRU replacement, and on-site/off-site support. Duties include troubleshooting Telco connectivity and network switches, documenting activities, building/modifying SOPs, performing structured cabling, power and handoff to provisioning teams, and executing small-to-mid local projects with supervision for larger initiatives. Requires hands-on IT hardware expertise, strong communication, customer-facing support at customer sites (primarily), and willingness to work a shift that includes weekends/holidays. Preferred qualifications include 2- to 4-year degree or equivalent experience, plus 1+ year in structured cabling and data center concepts; location near Ashburn, Reston, and Manassas, VA.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years working in an IT environment
- Experience solving problems on servers, networking devices and IT equipment
- Inventory management experience (ordering, receiving, shipping server parts)
- Experience taking on-call shifts and responding to critical events
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware
- IT Hardware Concepts knowledge (RAID, SAN, SCIS, Linux/Unix, GRUB)
- Shift schedule includes weekends and holidays
