Job Summary
Data Center Owner’s Representative (Owner’s Rep) leads as the Owner’s trusted partner across design, construction, commissioning, and turnover for mission-critical data center projects valued at $100M+. Acts as the central Owner-facing point of accountability with architects, engineers, general contractors, specialty trades, equipment vendors, commissioning authorities, and operations teams. Provides technical oversight, strategic project management, and proactive issue resolution to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery that meets enterprise operational readiness, resiliency, and compliance goals. Lead Owner-side project meetings and milestone reviews; align execution with Owner objectives and risk policies. Involves site selection, feasibility studies, design development reviews for constructability and maintainability, procurement strategy input, and contract/bid evaluation. Oversees GC performance, submittals, RFIs, and change orders; tracks schedule, cost exposures, and contingency usage; escalates actionable issues. Monitors safety and environmental protocols; supports FAT, SAT, commissioning, turnover, and O&M documentation. Requires deep expertise in MEP and civil/structural systems, strong financial and contractual acumen, and a track record of managing large-scale, fast-track projects; travel regionally/nationally to project sites is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience managing large-scale construction projects
- Experience overseeing projects $100M+ in value
- Interfacing with Owners, A&E firms, general contractors, trade contractors, and commissioning providers
- Strong working knowledge of MEP systems and civil/structural design
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, ASHRAE, ANSI/NETA ATS, SMACNA, IBC, ADA, OSHA
- Understanding of commissioning processes and L1–L5 commissioning phases
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to travel regionally/nationally to project sites
- Proficiency in project management and reporting tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Primavera P6)
- Ability to navigate active construction sites safely
- Capability to manage field-based responsibilities across varying environments
