Job Summary
Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer based in Sydney leads the mechanical design direction for data-center cooling systems, including chilled-water distribution, liquid cooling (direct-to-chip and CDUs), plumbing, and fire protection; reviews construction documentation and design submittals from external firms, coordinates with vendors and external partners, and drives prefabrication and modular construction to accelerate deployment. Requires 10+ years of experience in data-center mechanical design, deep familiarity with Australian codes/standards, a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and the ability to travel up to ~30% across APAC. Visa sponsorship is available, and some roles in the APAC portfolio offer consideration for relocation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience designing building mechanical systems for data centers or mission-critical facilities
- Strong knowledge of chilled-water systems, air-cooled cooling plants, liquid cooling (direct-to-chip and CDUs)
- Experience with prefabricated and modular mechanical infrastructure
- Experience driving and reviewing mechanical design work produced by external engineering consultants
- Ability to travel up to ~30% to data center sites across the APAC region
- Familiarity with Australian mechanical, hydraulic, and fire codes and standards
- Proficiency with Revit MEP or AutoCAD MEP
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
