Job Summary
Data Center Engineer responsible for the physical setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of server and network hardware across NJ data centers, including rack layouts, patching, inventory management, and documentation; requires 5+ years hands-on experience with servers, network devices, and storage, plus Linux knowledge and fiber optics experience. Core hours are 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with occasional travel between NJ data centers; travel requires a valid driver's license. Eligibility includes no immigration sponsorship for this opening; base salary range $100k–$140k with discretionary bonuses and benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years hands-on experience in data center engineering
- Strong understanding of server hardware, network devices, and storage systems
- Knowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceivers
- Experience with fiber optic testing and cleaning is required
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking protocols
- Proven experience in racking, cabling, and working with data center facilities management tools (power, cooling, etc.)
- Familiarity with basic scripting in Bash and Python within a Linux environment is a plus
- Strong ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset, able to work independently and in a team
- Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 60 pounds
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- A valid driver’s license is required for travel between facilities
