Job Summary
VP of Data Center Construction Projects / Owner's Rep role leading data center construction project management on the West Coast. Responsible for overarching strategy and execution of live-facility upgrades, retrofits and complex projects, providing senior leadership to Project Managers, ensuring delivery on budget and schedule while meeting design standards and client objectives. Plains a strong emphasis on leadership, client relationships, vendor/contract management, cost control, and performance reporting. Requires extensive data center/construction experience, executive-level communication, travel willingness, and familiarity with tools like MS Project, Primavera P6, and AutoCAD. The role involves cross-functional collaboration, strategic sourcing, risk management, and developing and mentoring project teams, with active participation in professional organizations.
Required Qualifications
- BA or BS a plus; advanced degree a plus
- Minimum of 7-10+ years of experience managing data center or mission critical construction projects with progressive leadership responsibility
- Experience managing multiple Data Center Construction Projects as an Owner or as a General Contractor
- Deep understanding of the design and construction process for mission critical building systems
- Executive level client facing experience with strong relationship management and advisory capabilities
- Proven leadership experience supervising, mentoring, and developing project managers and teams
- Strong financial expertise with demonstrated success managing complex project budgets, executive level reporting, scheduling and SOPs as they relate to corporate real estate
- Computer proficiency including MS Project, Excel, and enterprise project controls tools such as Primavera P6; AutoCAD a plus
- Highly organized with strong analytical, decision making, and problem solving skills
- Exceptional communication skills across written, verbal, and executive level presentations
- Ability to support both internal and external stakeholders (architects, contractors, client’s representatives, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and make high impact decisions affecting large capital programs
- Advanced contract negotiation and vendor management experience
- Willingness to travel as required to support project and client needs
- Active participation in professional organizations such as AFCOM, ASHRAE, 7x24 Exchange, PTC, Datacenter Dynamics, Uptime, iMasons, Bisnow/DICE, etc.
- Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus! Experience with Electrical / Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
