Data Center CoE - Field Service Technician

Job Summary
Execute start-up, commissioning, and post-start-up field services for ABB's data center market across the United States, ensuring adherence to standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Plan and manage site work for larger projects, coordinate subcontractors, and troubleshoot equipment failures while delivering a first-time-right approach. Lead health, safety, and environment activities, maintain documentation, and assist with spare parts ordering and fleet performance analysis. This highly travel-intensive role requires 90-100% nationwide travel, including long-term assignments, with accommodations and per diem provided. Candidates must possess electrical design experience and knowledge of NEC and QA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED with 5 years of hands-on electrical/electronics engineering experience
- Associate degree/trade certification with 3 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience
- High school diploma/GED with 3 years of equivalent work or military experience servicing critical power equipment
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Safety Codes and Regulations and QA (Local & National)
- Proven analytical and quality improvement ability
- Ability to communicate effectively to both external customers, vendors and other partners, as well as internal stakeholders, written and verbally
- Must be fluent both written and conversational in the English Language
- Currently authorized to work and live in the US
- Ability and willingness to travel 90-100% of the time throughout the United States
- This will include long-term assignments requiring consecutive weeks of travel
- Promptly book travel arrangements upon receipt of assignments
- Always wear personal protective equipment/uniforms
- Preserve ABB's Safety Culture on every aspect and as first priority, in the field and always keeping an eye on co-workers
- Leads Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities at site
- Reports unsafe practices and incidents
- Applies safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities
- Theoretical experience in all aspects of electrical design
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite of products
- Knowledge of Google suite of products (Sheets, Docs, Drive, and Slides)
- Knowledge of project issue resolution software (BIM, Compass, CxAlloy, Procore, etc.)
- Experience on Emerson RX3i etc.
- Experience with Proficy Machine edition
- Experience with ABB AC500 PLC and Automation Builder software
- Experience with CP600 HMI and Panelbuilder software
- Experience with Zenon for HMIs and Cimplicity software
- Experience with Woodward Easygen and LSS
- Computer networking skills
- Experience with wire shark and IED scout
- Relay testing and configuration experience (Siemens, ABB REX640, SSC600, REF615, REG615, SEL, Multilin)
- RTAC configuration
Desired Qualifications
